Fast and Sharp
We trade power across Europe, capturing opportunities by moving electricity to the highest yielding markets. We specialise in short-term power trading on the intraday market, but also trade standardised futures contracts.
We make sure our traders stay sharp by getting the time and space to reflect, learn and unwind. Continual assessment and fine-tuning of our quantitative models helps keep our trading strategies incisive, while trading teams integrate next-practice data analysis and elegantly powerful coding to sharpen models, strategy, and trading decisions.
Intraday
trading
Our intraday power trading is run from our head office in Aarhus, Denmark.
Intraday power trading, also known as the short-term wholesale power market, is the continuous buying and selling of power on the same day as the power is delivered.
There are no fixed prices for products on the intraday market. Instead, there are usually different prices for the same product depending on the time the trade occurs. Intraday trading is a key component of the energy transition because of its ability to quickly adjust to the intermittent supply of solar or wind power.
Futures
trading
Our futures power trading desk is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Futures contracts are used to buy or sell a specific volume of electricity, at a specific price, for settlement on a specific date in the future. Futures are standardised contracts traded on highly liquid power exchanges (such as EEX).
Many contracts don’t result in the actual physical delivery of power, but are used instead to lock in the purchase or sale price in advance. Market participants hedge against market price risk to gain the financial certainty of purchasing or selling a certain volume for a pre-agreed price.
